Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Tryouts Scheduled for October 4th – 6th

Softball season is just around the corner so that means it’s time to hold our annual tryouts. Any girl interested in joining the high school softball program must participate in these tryouts, which will be held for 3 days beginning on Tuesday, October 4th.  Tryouts will start at 3:30 and end at approximately 5:30.

Each participant must have a current physical on file with the school.  Girls are encouraged to give their completed physical form to Coach Monahan ahead of time, but can bring it to the field on the fourth.  For the safety of the girls, anyone without a completed physical will not be allowed to participate in the tryouts.

In addition to the completed physical, each participant will need to go online to create an account on our new athletic clearance website www.athleticclearance.com. Once the account has been created, the student will select “softball” and answer a series of questions.  Both the student and a parent will need to electronically “sign” the pages.  This online service replaces all of the old forms that used to be collected (Emergency Form, Risk Waiver, Health Questionnaire, Sportsmanship, etc.)  Students who have previously created an account for participation in another sport will simply need to log into their account and “add” softball as an additional sport.

What Do I Need?

Participants should bring their own glove and dress comfortably in athletic apparel.  Cleats should be worn, but are not required.  Girls who do not own cleats may wear athletic shoes (tennis shoes, sneakers, etc.).  Please bring a sweatshirt or light jacket for the end of the day.  It is not necessary to bring helmets or bats to the tryouts.  Participants may use our school equipment.

Girls involved in a Fall Sport (Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country, etc) need to see Coach Monahan immediately to discuss options for an alternate tryout period.

Please feel free to see Coach Monahan in the Guidance Office if you have any questions. Coach Monahan may also be reached by email at jmonahan@mvusd.net.

Good luck and see you on the 4th!
